So, my brother Pavan has always loved “sounds”. He would always find music in the weirdest of things like washing machines, rotating fans, auto-rickshaw meters, and so on. There was almost a point where he would go to an autorickshaw and just turn the meter to listen to the sound it makes and that made him so happy! But we would always be red-faced and even hot-headed, to fight and explain to the rickshaw drivers what he was doing and why…It almost came as a relief when his auto-rickshaw obsession took a new turn: now he has this habit of telling the rickshaw driver -“aapne bahut accha chalaya “, after the ride.
And it is so much fun to see their reaction. So some smile the widest, some are just confused, some assume that he is saying something bad and start speaking rudely. It’s sad that some have a preconceived notion of strangers saying only bad things. So it has now almost become a ritual, that Pavan always thanks and tells the driver, whether rickshaw or uber,”aapne bahut accha chalaya” after the ride, and a few times even before the ride starts.
The most recent incident being that on our flight to Kochi ,after the landing ,he went searching for the pilot . And on finding the pilot surrounded by the crew, he told him “aapne bahut accha chalaya”, leaving everyone, including me and mumma, with a wide smile
