Key Takeaways:

We are currently working on the key takeaways for this article. They will be available soon.

The above video is on Unequal caregiving roles within the family.

The video is a part of a parent empowerment series. It talks about ‘Marital health when raising a child with special needs’ with Akila Vaidyanathan. She is the founder and director of Amaze Charitable Trust.

In this video, Akhila emphasises the importance of asking your partner to take more and equal responsibility for your child. Unequal caregiving roles within the family are not healthy for the growth of the child as well as for the parents or caregiver. Responsible and conscious parenting is very essential for your child’s well-being. One should be explicit about what kind of help you seek. Do not hesitate to share your knowledge about your child’s disability with other family members. Try to find common activities the family can do together to be part of the child’s life.

You can also check out the video on Partners helping each other to accept and understand their child’s disability.
