Key Takeaways:

We are currently working on the key takeaways for this article. They will be available soon.

In this video, Clinical Psychologist and Dyslexia Therapist, Afshan Jabeen highlights the role of parents as crucial agents for behavior management in children. While in most cases behavior manifestations can be due to unattended problems that a child with a disability may fail to express effectively, in a few instances habit or entitlement can also cause behavior tantrums. In such instances what should a parent do to manage the situation? Having a diagnosis of a developmental disability can in no way become an excuse to let a child get away with inappropriate behavior. It is important to lay firm boundaries as you would with any other child thus setting up realistic expectations of how the child should behave both indoors as well as outdoors.
