Key Takeaways:

We are currently working on the key takeaways for this article. They will be available soon.

In a group discussion with parents of children with Autism, Dr.Padma Palvai helps understand the misconceptions and facts about Stem cell therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Biomedical therapy and other alternative modes of therapy for Autism management. Understanding the mode of action of different therapy modalities will help in spreading awareness of practices that offer a safe and more permanent solution to a child’s health challenges in Autism. Given that we know so little about what causes Autism, how or if it can be cured, parents must invest their attention on evidence-based practices than non-evidence based modes of managing the condition. The one thing that has shown promising results for Autism care are structured ways of training, teaching and engaging the child to modify their behavior in their day to day life. Once a parent knows the risks versus benefits of all Autism management therapies out there, he/she will become empowered to choose the best and safe option to help their child lead a happy life. Autism cannot be cured but with the right choice of practices it can be very well managed.
