Most commonly used genetic testing procedures in the pregnant mother are performed under extreme precautions to avoid any adversity. Two most common procedures are Chorionic Villus sampling, which is done within 11-13 weeks of pregnancy; and Aminiocentisis, which is done within 16 weeks of pregnancy. Both procedures do not directly touch the foetus, and the risk of abortion is very low.
