Akila Vaidyanathan

Founder-Director, The AMAZE Charitable Trust

When Akila Vaidyanathan’s son was diagnosed with Autism and Apraxia of Speech, she and her family set out on a journey that changed not only their lives but also the lives of thousands of others. In 2012, she and her husband founded The AMAZE Charitable Trust in Coimbatore with one mission- to guide families through the challenges of autism with empathy, structure, and hope.

What AMAZE Does

Amaze runs innovative programmes tailored to every stage of growth:

  • Ameya- skill development and employment readiness for young adults
  • Life Skills to Literacy (L2L)- blending academic, digital, and social learning for independence
  • Daksh- online academic learning for children with autism
  • Achint-  building fitness, social interaction, and behavioural regulation

Through these initiatives, AMAZE has trained 500+ neurodiverse individuals, 3,000+ parents and professionals, and engaged over 5,000 community members  in awareness and inclusion programmes.

Beyond the Classroom
AMAZE also conducts family and adventure camps  near Pune and Ooty, unique experiences that build confidence and independence through fun and exploration.

Looking Ahead
The organisation is now developing the AMAZE Skills Centre, a 10,000 sq. ft. sustainable campus in Coimbatore where adolescents and adults with autism can learn art, cooking, technology, and life skills in a peaceful, inclusive setting.

Akila’s Continuing Impact
Akila’s leadership extends through partnerships with Club Youngistan and the Anupam Prayaas Foundation, promoting digital learning and inclusive storytelling. Her commitment to lifelong learning and empowerment continues to inspire families across India.
