The ASIAN INSTITUTE OF INDIA (AIKD) trust, founded by Dr.Janak Nathan, Neurologist , is the first to successfully implement an Indianized version of the Ketogenic Diet, for children and adults with uncontrolled epilepsy.
Objectives of ASIAN INSTITUTE OF INDIA (AIKD) trust:
* To create awareness about Ketogenic Diet as an alternative treatment in Uncontrolled Epilepsy.
* To conduct research in alternative diet therapies in the treatment of uncontrolled epilepsy.
* To provide free Diagnosis, Medication & treatment to patients in need.
The Ketogenic diet has been ‘Indianized’ by Dr Janak Nathan: The first problem with Ketogenic Diet has been the difficulty in using American recipes in India. So, to Indianize the recipes a team of dietitians led by the author actually prepared Indian recipes using different caloric and keto ratio values. These were carefully weighed, prepared and tasted by the team. Slowly, a bank of 100 recipes was fashioned and a book prepared with basic instructions included. These recipes are prepared with Keto wonder powder which is specially designed by Dr. Nathan and team for their patients. Ketogenic diet is a scientifically calculated but a highly individualised diet that is useful in controlling those with uncontrolled epilepsy. Before starting the diet therapy, the parents are imparted training with explanation to many aspects of this mode of therapy at ASIAN INSTITUTE OF INDIA (AIKD) trust.
