Sleep problems in children with autism are common. In fact, it is estimated that around 50-80% of children with Autism have their internal sleep cycle go out of balance, causing sleep-related trouble. This eventually gives rise to functional disruption of everyday nighttime sleep. Lack of sleep brings on other behavioural issues and learning problems in these children. Hence, it is imperative to understand the source of the problem and find ways to help manage sleep challenges effectively. Children with autism will benefit from having a visual routine in the evening which can promote good sleep at night.
