A disability certificate provides legal proof of an individual’s disability.

Individuals with developmental disabilities require a disability certificate. They can avail benefits and concessions under various schemes instituted by the Government of India, using this certificate. A Medical Board formed by the State Government in each State of the nation issues the certificate. The Board issues the certificate to all individuals with disabilities recognized under the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. In order to qualify for the certificate, the individual is assessed by a panel of medical experts. This assessment takes place at select Government hospitals in each state or district. While the overall procedure is the same throughout the country, there may be some differences from state to state. Please use the resource above to find the hospital near you for procuring the certificate for your ward.
