A child goes through different phases of growth and development. Right from birth till he/she becomes a semi-independent child starting preschool. This critical window from 0-5 years of age is a period of dynamic changes. These changes occur every day in the child’s body and mind. The old adage, it takes a village to raise a child only goes to speak of the deep influence the members of a child’s immediate community – the family has on his/her ability to communicate and interpret their surrounding environment. Hence, there are factors that can both hinder as well as help a child during this critical growth phase.

Please go through the slides that outline some basic points that families may bear in mind, that can go a long way in influencing a child’s growth and development in the long run.
