Regular health assessments for children with Down syndrome (DS)\u00a0 from\u00a0birth until adulthood is imperative as your child grows older. Apart from intellectual and developmental delays, people with DS are at an increased risk of developing certain health conditions. Awareness of some of these common health problems in these individuals and continuous monitoring of these challenges will help reduce their adverse affects on the person\u2019s health, and aid in prompt management. DS cannot be cured, but careful management of health challenges can have a positive impact on the overall development of the individual.
