Shwetha Srivathsan

Parent Inclusion Champion, Not That Different by Bookosmia

For Shwetha, inclusion is not a programme, it is a mindset built on the belief that everyone is good at something. Her journey began with Aditi, her daughter, at a time when autism awareness was rare and resources scarce. Through determination and openness to learn, she built an environment where Aditi could thrive and in doing so, found her life’s calling: to make inclusion accessible, practical, and sustainable.

At Bookosmia, Shwetha leads ‘Not That Different’, an initiative that celebrates neurodiversity through storytelling, training, and community engagement. Two flagship projects have emerged under her leadership:

Dhwani – Voices for Inclusion

Launched during Bookosmia’s NeuroUnity event in April 2024, Dhwani is a free digital resource for educators, designed as a practical guide to classroom inclusion. Rooted in frameworks like Universal Design for Learning and the Learner Variability Model, it equips teachers to view diversity as a design opportunity, not a deficit.

Since launch, Dhwani has reached 700+ education leaders through workshops and partnerships with major organisations such as ECA-APER (40,000+ member schools), CED, EKYA CMR Group, and Tapas Group. It continues to grow as a collaborative, evolving resource, guided by educators, mental health professionals, and inclusion champions across India.

Focusing on Strength –  The Podcast

In this powerful parent-led series, Shwetha brings together families who share their journeys of discovering and nurturing their child’s strengths from art and music to resilience and empathy. With 2,25,000+ viewers and a 97% new audience reach, the podcast has become a beacon of hope for new parents navigating neurodivergence. Episodes feature real stories like Karthik, a 12-year-old singer on the autism spectrum who performed at a Bookosmia event, or Ramam, a 22-year-old autistic chef who catered for over 300 guests.

Sustaining the Movement

Shwetha’s work is anchored in evidence, empathy, and sustainability. She aligns global frameworks with Indian realities, ensuring her resources stay relevant across cultures and time. Her motivation is simple yet profound to ensure every neurodivergent person has a level playing field in education, work, and life.
