It works in the slums of Ghatkopar and directly benefits 100 families.
The children and adolescents are taught communication skills, social skills, basic literacy and numeracy, and activities of daily living (ADL), with a view to integrating them into local schools, special schools, vocational training centers, apprenticeships, and employment, depending on the child’s age, ability, and aptitude. Co-curricular activities and field visits are an important part of the curriculum.
The center also works with parents and families by teaching them skills and are provided emotional and social support. Home-based therapy is provided to children and adolescents with severe disabilities who are unable to access the center.
The center collaborates and gets support from local government services, such as the Integrated Child Development Services, Public Health Department, and Education Department. They also organize events street plays, workshops, and camps which bring the larger community in contact with our children/adolescents and their families.
