We are currently working on the key takeaways for this article. They will be available soon.

Do you think that you have missed baby milestones? People around you tell you that there is something not quite right with the way your child is acting. You have had a strong feeling about it too, but didn’t act upon it until somebody else notices it too.

But, remember, every child is unique and can achieve developmental milestones in their own pace with a small variation from the typical developmental growth trend. A child may achieve some milestones faster, while acquiring the rest a little later, but eventually getting there. That is no cause for worry and is normal in most cases.
Even if you have missed baby milestones, you should not stress a lot. Missing some milestones here and there isn’t a cause for concern. But it goes a long way to remain vigilant and pay close attention to your child’s growth and development. The key to this is informing yourself about information that helps you understand your child’s pace of growth. And subsequently learn to take action promptly.

If all children develop differently, when should a parent seek help from a Pediatrician if they notice a cause for concern during their child’s development?

You should seek advice from a Paediatrician if:
1. You notice a red flag indicator or signs that something is wrong which points to a significant delay or to an unusual presentation in your child’s development.
Note: A more detailed outline of red flags across all developmental domains and how to spot them is coming very soon! Red flags for visual and auditory development can be found यहाँ और यहाँ, respectively.
2. The child’s development regresses – the child loses abilities acquired earlier.

3. There are other risk factors that you are concerned about.

4. Most importantly, if you have absolutely any seed of doubt about your child’s pace of development, trust your instincts and visit a doctor. The sooner you act the better the outcome for your child.
